What is E-mail Marketing?

Posted by admin under Marketing

E-mail marketing is pretty much what it sounds like; It’s when you send e-mails to market a product. Sounds simple enough, right?

You might be wondering why e-mail marketing is important and how it can increase your bottom line? The more people you send e-mails to promoting your products, the more sales will be generated. This is because your e-mails can be sent to potential new customers in addition to existing customers.

Existing customers are those who have bought products or services from you and you should have stored their e-mail addresses in your “list”. You can send new product information, discount offers, promotions, sale information, etc. with the hopes that these existing customers will return for another purchase.

New customer e-mail addresses are usually acquired through a newsletter sign-up, or a list that can be purchased from another company that specializes in that sort of thing, although SPAM is one of the worste and most annoying tactics used today, so be careful not to anger your customers by sending TOO many e-mails their way. they could always black-list your e-mails. For example, I have around 100 e-mail addresses black-listed in my account, which means I will never receive another e-mail from them again. Hooray!

It is a great idea to add back-links (links back to your web page) in your e-mails so potential customers can easily access your page if they decide they are interested in whatever you’re offering. Putting direct links to your affiliate products is another way of generating more sales that doesn’t require the customer to ever even see your web page!

Besides generating more sales, e-mail marketing is also very cost-effective. Think about how much money it would cost you to send promotional content to each and every person on your “list” by regular mail. If you have 100 people on your “list”, it will cost you a minimum of $42! If you acquire a larger list sometime in the future, which is what you WANT to do, the cost can become hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars! This is all in comparison to paying absolutely nothing to send e-mails!

Some other benefits to think about are:

  • Delivery Time: E-mail gets to the customers inbox within seconds whereas regular mail can take days.
  • Tracking: It is very easy to track electronic mail while regular mail would need to be “return receipt requested”, which is both expensive and time consuming.
  • Website Traffic: You can send an e-mail to customers to alert them to sales, promotions, and new products instead of hoping people find your website through a search engine. There are also ways to track the percentage of people who actually read the e-mail.
  • Environmentally Sound: E-mail doesn’t require any paper! Make your business eco-friendly!

A lot of affiliate products offer templates and tips on how to create a large “list” of e-mail addresses. Make sure you do your research and find the product that is right for YOU!
